I. Deadline: Surveys will officially be accepted through 2008 ,
however, while we are involved in the data entry and pre-correlation phases you
will be able to e-mail or postally mail in your surveys past this date until the web site file
download and response e-mail is ultimately disabled (we are no longer accepting surveys). In order to facilitate
the data entry schedule we've established, the sooner you complete your surveys
and submit them the easier it will be to move this study closer to the final
analysis and results stage. Please do NOT procrastinate when it comes to
completing these surveys. They do not have to be completed in one sitting and
you may take your time and revisit them as often as needed; being careful not
to forget to save the survey file you are working on before closing. As you
finish a particular survey please e-mail them to response@suscitatio.com
II. Vampires &
Energy Workers: There is a common misconception that these surveys are only
written for those who identify with modern, living, or real sanguine or psi
vampirism. While 55-60% of the content of these surveys apply almost
exclusively to vampirism related topics, the remainder was designed to account
for those who identify with energy work, no longer identify with vampirism, or
identify with both components. Presently, response from the exclusive energy
worker Community accounts for less than 12% of the total response received to
date, however, any base group inclusion of this size as a variance point
warrants its own branch of classification. Therefore, let us attempt to explain
how responses from both vampires and energy workers will be grouped in the data
tree and subsequently correlated.
For this study we will be using a model that accounts for divergent branches of
the top level variants or groups; those who identify as vampires or vampires
who also identify as energy workers and those who identify only as energy
workers. Only the applicable questions for energy workers will be compiled for
the independent study of this branch; primarily the demographic, personal,
medical, familial, spiritual, cross-over community background, paranormal,
past-life, meditation, psi-related, energy perception, manipulation, tools,
techniques, etc. Having this general body of data for both self-identifying
vampires and energy workers will allow us to conduct a linear and non-linear
multiple regression and correlation of these two communities. The potential for
this shedding light into the interrelationships, similarities of abilities or
conditions, and overall mentality or perception, is of extreme interest in both
a psychological and sociological context. Therefore, if you are an energy
worker who does not personality either identify with, or even believe in
vampirism, you will be able to answer all questions that do not contain the
word "vampire or vampirism"; as an awakening, spirituality, energy work,
general perception and experience of self relates to facets of both communities.
A. Instructions For Vampires &
Energy Workers:
i. If you are a
vampire role player or do not believe in living vampirism (either sanguine or
psi) and have come into possession of these surveys please do NOT participate unless
you identify with and practice energy work.
ii. Carefully read
pages two through five / nine before answering and complete all portions of the
survey(s) to the best of your ability without outside assistance or influence.
iii. Your responses
are VERY important no matter how extensive your involvement or background.
These are completely neutral surveys - it matters NOT which path, religion,
belief, or affiliation you hold. Do NOT include personally identifiable
responses to any written answers. We do NOT under any circumstances wish to
know who you are for any number of ethical and liability reasons.
iv. Complete BOTH
surveys and return to: response@suscitatio.com
B.
Special Instructions For Energy Workers Only:
i. Complete BOTH the VEWRS & AVEWRS - If
you do NOT intend to complete BOTH surveys then do not participate. Much of the
VEWRS will be "Not Applicable", however, all questions concerning demographics
in sections 1 to 3 and that do not contain a specific reference to vampirism in
sections 4 to 11 are viable and
important material for analysis. The AVEWRS contains a high concentration of
energy work questions and paranormal background in sections 1 & 2.
Although, please answer the questions in sections 3 to 5 that are applicable to
energy workers or the general populace.
ii. Question 988 is perhaps the most important
question on the entire survey, in that it allows the respondent to include any
and all material they deem important regarding their respective communities
that is not included in the VEWRS & AVEWRS.
iii. It is not the intent of the researchers to
portray the Energy Worker Community or Vampire Community as mutually inclusive
of one another. We are well aware that both communities do not always
acknowledge, support, or agree with one another and therefore will treat both
sets of data as independent variables in their own right and both will receive
separate sections of publication. However, certain data points that present as
aberrant or unique both in comparison and contrast to these communities will be
explored.
iv. Please note your answer carefully on
question #285 {Other: _Energy Worker_} of the VEWRS and question #383 & #384
of the AVEWRS. These are the criteria markers we use to categorize vampire and
energy workers in the SPSS data analysis program.
v. If you exclusively identify as an energy
worker please return your completed surveys to: response@suscitatio.com
III. Statement Regarding Otherkin &
Therian Communities: It’s clear there is distinct crossover between these
communities and elements of these surveys that may be answered by those who
identify with Otherkin (hybrid questioning and Otherkin identification
questions), however, unless one also identifies with energy work and/or
vampirism these surveys are not designed for these communities. Additionally we
have received numerous e-mails from the Otherkin and Therian community asking
if we would either create a survey of the same detail or at very least consult
with their community in the formation of such. To be honest our focus is and
needs to remain on the vampire and energy worker communities. We fear to spread
ourselves to areas that we may be unfamiliar with or have only a superficial
knowledge would be disingenuous and ultimately a disservice to those
communities. While we would be happy to consult on technical aspects regarding
the structure, focus, distribution, and balance within context of these
communities; it’s our opinion both the Otherkin and Therian community should
begin dialog if they are serious at having this idea properly transform into
something productive rather than a rushed composition that fails to achieve the
goals and sample size desired.
A. Otherkin & Therian Clarification:
i. These surveys were originally drafted for the psi/sang
vampire community in March 2006 in response in part to a publication
"Investigating Religious Terrorism & Ritualistic Crime" by Dawn
Perlmutter Ph.D. in which she basically places "vampires",
"Goths", and other fringe subcultures in the category with
ritualistic murderers, psychopaths, deranged individuals, religious cults, and
even "religious terrorists". This study refers specifically to those who generally interpret their personal
vampirism as a physical, spiritual, psychic or otherwise condition much in the
same manner as therians and otherkin, albeit different in some
respects.
ii. In February 2007 we sat down
and entered in data for questions #172 and #285 and realized we had about 7%
energy work (psionics/psi/reiki/healers/lightworkers, etc.) response and about
5% otherkin response (therian included) that we weren't expecting since the
surveys weren't originally designed for these communities.
By July 2007 these numbers swelled to 12% and 9% respectively and for
the first time we saw a developing pattern between responses given by vampires
versus energy workers versus therians for example... many psychic experience,
medical conditions, spiritual
expressions, energetic related abilities/perceptions, etc. were similar and in
excess of normative prevalence rates in society as reported by a host of other
studies. Instead of throwing out the
Otherkin, Energy Worker, Therian, etc. responses as "outside the scope of
our study", we have decided that as a gesture to these communities to give them data we collect as a starting point for them to be able to tailor
questions specifically to their own community. Many of
the questions are related to vampires, etc. and can be answered as “Not
Applicable”, however, for some of these questions we will take into account a respondent's answer based on a substitution of vampire for “therian” or “otherkin” for
VEWRS (Part 1) questions #172, #285 (Other: Write In), and on the AVEWRS (Part 2) sections 1, 2, 4, & 5.
IV. VEWRS & AVEWRS: Please
understand that BOTH surveys need to be completed and returned. The AVEWRS is
the concurrent second survey that covers the technical aspects of vampirism,
energy work, spirituality, detailed experience, feeding, awakening, coping,
identity, etc. background that is NOT covered in the VEWRS. For this reason it
is VERY IMPORTANT that those who complete the VEWRS also complete the AVEWRS.
V. Importance & Significance Of This
Study: In order for detailed anthropological, psychological, or
phenomenological research to be properly conducted on a community or subculture
a foundation must first be established and this is one of the primary purposes
of this research study. To be able to firmly grasp and understand the elements
of this Community, there needs to be an exploration into the shared
commonalities, differences, and developing trends in a concise and centralized
format. We've received surveys from all parts of the globe, dozens of different
paths or belief systems, psi/sang/hybrid, solitary, affiliated, the young, the
old, community leaders, and newly awakened alike. Your participation and
moreover your encouragement of others to participate in this important study
directly impacts the success of this project.
One important thing we have come
to realize thus far from this study is that there are legitimate and
level-headed communities in parts of the World we never realized that are
literally begging for others to speak with in their area, develop a cohesive
structure and organization, and even translate important information into their
native tongue. It makes no difference of your individual path; this is a
universal study directed towards the specific subset of the real vampire and
natural energy worker subculture and we are sincerely seeking participation
from all paths, orders, and beliefs without the desire to infringe or violate
the tenets or private inner teachings of any particular group. There are
numerous underlying significant benefits to all of us and how we are perceived
that have the potential to come from this research and everyone that honestly
personally identifies with real, living, modern, sang/psi vampirism and/or
energy work should invest their time to complete these surveys.

The Vampire & Energy Work Research Survey (VEWRS)
is conducted by Suscitatio Enterprises, LLC with support from
various Houses and elders from the vampire community. This survey will
address questions about the vampiric experience which have consistently
been brought forward as concerns, either by members of the Community or
by outside researchers in the professional or academic sectors. We have
divided these concerns into the eleven topics which comprise the focus
of this survey. We see these recurring questions as evidence of a need,
felt by outside researchers and Community members alike, for a larger
body of reliable knowledge about how vampires describe their personal
experiences of dealing with their condition. We will attempt to gather
data regarding these issues by researching specific cultural, physical,
psychological, and emotional conditions that actually exist as written
and reported from a vampire perspective. To this end, we intend to
directly address these concerns: we will examine the different traits
associated with the vampiric condition from feeding habits to psychic
abilities; we will examine who vampires are, their backgrounds,
educations, and religious or spiritual choices; we will gather data on
how individuals experience their personal vampirism and how they
experience the vampire community; and we will distinguish the
differences between real vampirism and the role playing phenomenon.
Our goal is to provide this data in a comprehensive printed and
digitally available analysis to the community as a resource for our
deeper understanding of modern vampirism. We anticipate the results
will provide a strong basis of fact and theoretical framework from
which to dispel the popular misconceptions held by the public
community, and highlight the flaws in the conventional theories of the
scientific and academic communities regarding their frequent treatment
of vampirism as both a cult and a dangerous practice. We hope that with
the data gathered in this study available to the scholarly community as
well as the vampire community, the questions that scholarly
professionals have posed about us may be addressed from a solid factual
base - the experiences reported by actual members of the Community.
Furthermore, we intend to apply the raw data collected from this survey
to several ongoing studies. The results will provide us with a
statistical insight into the commonalities shared among real vampires
and assist in identifying traits that may commonly occur in the public
population but are misdiagnosed or dismissed. Using the census aspect
of this study we will be able to evaluate the concentration of vampires
in major metropolitan areas and throughout the world. This will permit
us to highlight pockets of vampires that exist but may be
under-represented in the Community. We will also be collecting personal
family heredity information that will aid in establishing the frequency
of vampirism throughout different generations and possible
consideration of genetic inheritance theories. While this study employs
a concurrent triangulation strategy, the qualitative aspects of our
research will allow for a case study examination that covers the
primary spectrum of beliefs and opinions held by the vampire community.
The potential knowledge this survey may provide to the vampire
community merits an extensive networking effort to gather support and
participation.
In the pursuit of this goal, we believe that we are following in the
tradition of, and building upon, the earliest efforts of members of our
Community to share their experiences with each other online, on
websites, forums, and in person discussions. The goal then, as it is
now, was above all to help one another understand our experiences, and
to enrich our Community's understanding of itself. While conducting
this research we are committed to remaining neutral and abstaining from
controversial rhetoric that could be viewed as biased. As researchers,
we recognize that we have a responsibility to be both fair and thorough
in serving our community. This is ultimately an effort by the
Community, and for the Community, which we hope will also reach beyond
our boundaries, to be a body of knowledge from which outside scholars
can draw when trying to understand the reality of our lives and
experience.

The Advanced Vampirism & Energy Work Research Survey (AVEWRS)
is conducted by the Suscitatio Enterprises, LLC with contributions
from both independent and affiliated groups within the vampire
community. This survey has come about in response to the inquiry
received while conducting the original Vampire & Energy Work
Research Survey (VEWRS) and from the examination of responses gathered
during past months. The purpose of the VEWRS was to gather data about
the general aspects of vampiric life and practice as reported by real
vampires with a particular emphasis placed on the social structure and
interactions amongst vampires within the Community. The scope of the
survey covered many surface topics, but necessarily left many advanced
topics unaddressed. During the ongoing analysis and correlation of the
responses from the VEWRS we both identified the need as well as
received a significant number of requests to address more in-depth
aspects of the vampire community; specifically vampiric traits,
abilities, beliefs, and energy work techniques. Based on these
requests, five independent research topics were chosen to be explored
and subsequently compiled into a single concise survey format to
facilitate the ease of participation. We believe that the information
gathered regarding these topics will be of specific and immediate
interest to members of the Community, and will increase the knowledge
that the Community has about itself, its members as individuals, and
its relationship with other groups and communities.
Complimenting the work outlined in the VEWRS, we provide the
opportunity in this follow-up survey for the participant to provide
comprehensive written responses regarding the primary areas of personal
experiences, abilities, and the application as well as interpretation
of their beliefs. Some questions may not have an apparent direct
connection to the vampire or energy worker communities; however, in
order to correlate data in the areas of personality, beliefs, and
demographic background they are crucial to establishing a foundation
for detailed case study analysis. In many cases these questions
directly address the past analysis of researchers regarding the vampire
subculture and the conclusions drawn by these outside researchers from
the examination of limited reported experiences by members of the
Community. We hope that the data gathered through this survey will help
serve our primary goal, and allow the Community to examine itself by
addressing topics which are important to its members. Our intention is
to provide this data in a comprehensive printed and digitally available
analysis to the Community as a resource for our deeper understanding of
modern vampirism. We anticipate the results will provide a body of data
which will speak to members of the Community, clarify aspects of
vampirism and the culture that vampires share, and allow individuals to
place their own experiences, practices and beliefs in context, with
regard to the greater Community.
Like with the VEWRS, the qualitative aspects of this survey will allow
for an intrinsic case study examination that covers the primary
spectrum of beliefs and opinions held by both the independent and
affiliated vampire community. The AVEWRS is designed as a stand-alone
study built after a preliminary review of the VEWRS, however, there is
a provision embedded into its design to allow linking to the initial
VEWRS for purposes of correlating the demographic and other
quantitative data presented in topic one. The use of this sequential
transformative strategy will enable our researchers to further expand
the examination into the personal lifestyle, family background, medical
history, paranormal experiences, and societal involvement as reported
by individual vampires and first highlighted in the VEWRS. The
remaining topics of the AVEWRS, unlike that of the VEWRS, are
independent from one another and address uniquely different questions
and purposes, however, directly adhere to the overall scope and spirit
prevalent within both surveys. Utilizing a concurrent transformative
strategy, sections two through five will examine a variety of subjects
in varying levels of detail. We will attempt to highlight the integral
nature of energy work within the vampire community by providing a
comprehensive battery of questions concerning individual perception,
manipulation, and utilization of energy. As evidenced throughout
pockets within the community, terminology used to describe the vampiric
condition is variable and thus presents a challenge to researchers to
adequately interpret the intent of the participant. This issue is
addressed in topic three through a qualitative examination of
definitions used by the modern vampire community to describe vampirism.
In addition the specific beliefs, postulated origins, characteristics,
and practices of vampires are thoroughly examined. Building on the
preliminary work concerning spirituality and its association with those
in the Community, we will examine in greater detail the religious,
spiritual, moral, ethical, and philosophical ideals that motivate and
often serve as a uniting force for the Community. This phenomenological
approach into the thought processes and viewpoints held by vampires is
crucial to understanding the collective consciousness of shared beliefs
within the Community and for potentially dispelling misconceptions of
unethical and immoral treatment of others by our kind. An examination
of how vampires interact with subcultures will compliment our
preliminary finding in the VEWRS that many vampires identify themselves
as belonging to one or more additional subcultures and/or otherkin
classifications. This pseudo-ethnography will examine the core
interactions, perceived and directed sentiment, and cultural
similarities shared among communities.
We understand the value of quality responses over that of quantity and
seek directly members of the community we recognize as being able to
provide valuable insight. The potential knowledge this survey may
provide to the vampire community merits an extensive networking effort
to gather support and participation. While conducting this research we
are committed to remaining neutral and abstaining from controversial
rhetoric that could be viewed as biased. As researchers, we recognize
that we have a responsibility to be both fair and thorough in serving
our community. Using a pragmatic approach to our research we welcome
exploration of the diversity of beliefs held by those of the Community
without injection of assumptive claim or validity judgment. This is
ultimately an effort by the Community, and for the Community, which we
hope will also reach beyond our boundaries, to be a body of knowledge
from which outside scholars can draw when trying to understand the
reality of our lives and experience.
